Latest legal rankings highlight Paris Smith as ‘knowledgeable, thorough and customer-focused’


Paris Smith have achieved excellent rankings in the latest Chambers and Partners Directory. Chambers and Partners is an independent research publication operating across 200 jurisdictions delivering detailed rankings and insight into the world’s leading lawyers and barristers.

In this year’s rankings, the Litigation team has improved by moving up a band, and Partner Mike Pavitt is the only lawyer in the South recognised for personal insolvency. All other departments have held their rankings from last year (family, banking and finance, employment, real estate, restructuring and insolvency and corporate M&A).

There are also two new leading individuals this year. Jo Spittles, a Partner in commercial property department received outstanding accolades: “She is exceedingly efficient and knowledgeable in her field. She is very proactive and has never let us down” says her profile. Similarly, a client described Partner Chris Holliss head of the debt collection and asset recovery team as “an excellent voice of reason” and commends his ability to “calm some very tense situations.”

On the private client side, the firm’s Family team were the only family department in Southampton and the surrounds to be listed in band 1, including 2 leading individuals Frank Prior and Huw Miles. One source commented on the team’s “very helpful and skilled lawyers,” adding: “We trust their advice and receive timely replies.” Another interviewee says: “The lawyers are technically able and work constructively.”
