Consumer Law Reform: Simpler Law, Stronger Rights

The Draft Consumer Rights Bill intends to reform consumer law in the UK providing “simpler law, stronger rights”.  The Bill, included in the recent Queen’s Speech, will amend and consolidate rules on unfair terms, sale of goods, services and digital content, misleading and aggressive practices and enforcement.  This is good news to the B2C industries who currently have a wide raft of legislation to navigate and should provide greater certainty and protection to consumers.

The expected changes have been largely welcomed by both the business community and consumer rights groups.  We will follow the bill as it proceeds through Parliament and keep you informed of proposals.
