Good Work Plan – 6 April 2020
Good Work Plan – 6 April 2020
The Good Work Plan comes into force on 6 April 2020. Whilst the proposed IR35 regulations, which were due to come into force on the same day, have been postponed until 2021; the changes to be implemented from the Good Work Plan are still going ahead on 6 April 2020 and so are fast approaching.
As a result of the current Coronavirus pandemic, the attention of many employers has certainly been diverted away from the general upcoming changes in the employment law landscape whilst they attempt to grapple with the new challenges the UK and much of the world now face.
Recruiting new staff after 6 April 2020 – Good Work Plan
There is a looming deadline on the horizon for any business recruiting new staff after 6 April 2020. Any contract issued by an employer after 6 April 2020 must comply with the new rules set out in the Good Work Plan. This blog explains what the Good Work Plan is and what employers can do now.
What is the Good Work Plan?
The Good Work Plan is a response to the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices and was published in late December 2018. The Good Work Plan attempts to provide better clarity in relation to employment rights and ensure that individuals are well informed.
It includes a series of changes to contracts of employment which will be effective from 6 April 2020. There will now be the requirement to provide all employees and workers with a written statement of terms, and for this statement to be given on or before the first day of work.
What can you do now?
Employers should ensure that their contracts are up to date and compliant with the new changes for any new contracts they issue after 6 April 2020.
