Graphics make the money go round

Paris Smith, a Hampshire law firm, has joined with groups of Chinese and British graphic arts students at Winchester School of Art, which is part of the University of Southampton, to “explore and learn about how the fundamentals of business are changing from the millennials’ perspective”.

Among various activities the students were invited to respond instantly with graphics to trigger words such as “value”, “pay”, “expense”, “worth” and “exchange”. The results revealed how simple images can convey powerful emotions.

The De La Rue Design team, which has designed more than a third of the world’s denominations in circulation today, were also involved.

“The project provided valuable insight into how different values and ideals can influence the way in which money helps you to achieve your goals,” said Peter Taylor, the managing partner at Paris Smith.
