Paris Smith raises over £400 for Mind during Mental Health Awareness Week
Staff at regional law firm Paris Smith LLP came together during Mental Health Awareness Week to raise more than £400 for local mental health charity, Mind.
During Mental Health Awareness Week, the firm hosted a charity raffle among its staff to raise funds for Mind. Prizes included time off work, restaurant and coffee vouchers and Mayflower Theatre tickets, among more.
The firm, which has offices in Southampton and Winchester, also used the week to highlight its trained mental health first aiders, share key statistics on wellbeing in the workplace as well as tips on how to improve a person’s physical, emotional and mental health.
This follows on from Paris Smith announcing its commitment to its staff’s wellbeing with the launch of a mental health resilience programme for 2019.
Already this year, the firm has engaged with The Eleos Partnership, a consultancy and training organisation led by three military veterans with huge experience of recovery from mental illness, to deliver a series of internal workshops to help staff to develop their mental resilience.
Paula Al-Yousif, HR Director at Paris Smith, said: “Mental illness can affect anyone at any time and it is important to have the right support in place.
One of our aims is to create an open culture and an environment where our people feel safe, supported and able to talk about any issues they may have so we can signpost them in the right direction.”
The firm plans to further its commitment to wellbeing and mental health by offering further similar workshops and a wellbeing week in September.
