I am a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute with 20 years’ experience in public and private sector planning. I have a wide breadth of planning experience and depth of knowledge in all aspects of urban and rural planning.
Having worked in both the public and private sector, I have an excellent understanding of the requirements, expectations and constraints placed on both. I have first-rate technical knowledge and first-hand experience of current planning legislation and national planning policy gained through practical application as a senior development management planner and private sector consultant.
Over the years, I have been involved in a variety of development proposals including housing schemes, town and edge of centre commercial expansions and redevelopments, conversions and changes of use. Outside towns and cities, I have experience of rural planning for housing, agricultural and equestrian developments as well as holiday and tourism development.
More recently, I have successfully secured Prior Approval office to residential changes of use, many with additional floors of accommodation and extensive external alterations. I have submitted planning applications, produced planning statements and negotiated with local authorities in all stages of the planning application process.
I have experience of addressing Local Authority Planning Committees both as a planning agent supporting clients’ applications, and as a local planning authority planner. I have also represented clients and local planning authorities at Planning Appeals – in particular Written Representations and Informal Hearings.
I have specialist knowledge of planning in National Parks, where Government guidance places great weight on protection of the landscape and scenic beauty, and experience of planning in an historic environment.
I am an excellent project manager and a great communicator as demonstrated through collaboration, consultation and negotiations with a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
