Paralegal Vacancy – Tax & Estate Planning

We are looking for a paralegal of at least 2 years’ experience to join our Tax & Estate Planning department in Winchester.

The role will be to work alongside a solicitor in the private client team providing full fee-earning support to the two Winchester based partners. The team has the support of two full-time secretaries.

The main responsibilities include:

  • drafting Wills;
  • preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney;
  • administering deceased estates, including:
    • preparing inheritance tax returns (IHT205 and IHT400s);
    • applying for grants of probate (or letters of administration);
    • dealing with all aspects of the post-grant administration of the estate;
    • meeting with/advising clients as required.

Preferred responsibilities or qualifications include:

  • experience of advising and drafting in relation to trusts;
  • experience of drafting Wills and trust documents;
  • membership of Chartered Institute of Legal Executives; and/or
  • membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

The key attributes for this role:

  • A good working knowledge of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Probate, and ideally Trusts
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organised
  • Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
