Charity Forum

The aim of the Charity Forum is to champion the free exchange of information and ideas between chief executives and trustees of charities, Paris Smith and a select team of professionals with experience in the sector.

To become a member of the Charity Forum simply complete the on-line registration form.

Membership of the Forum includes access to the following:

We would normally hold quarterly forum meetings for members and a bi-annual conference for all charity contacts. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we now have to think about how best we can reach out and communicate with all our members.

We have decided to host a new series of webinars which will provide bite-sized updates on topics most relevant to you. Topics could be relevant to your particular charity sector or cover specific topics such as governance, funding, employment, contracts, property issues, etc. We would really like to know what topics you would like to see included. Please email Sandy Waters with your topic ideas and we will do our best to feature them in one of our webinars.

Connect is a facility whereby a member with a practical question is able to raise it with knowledgeable and supportive people all with first hand knowledge of the third sector ie. the membership of the Charity Forum!  Connect is simple to use; all that is required is that you complete the on-line form or send your question through to the designated email address and responses will be compiled and sent to you after five working days.  For further details please see the Terms and Conditions.

Bi-Annual conference

The bi-annual conference, which in the past has attracted over 400 delegates and had keynote speakers such as Lord Hodgson, Creator of the Charity Bill, Sam Younger, Chief Exec, Charity Commission, Rob Wilson, Minister for Civil Society, Stephen Dunmore, Chief Exec, Fundraising Regulator, Nick Hurd, MP; provides information through presentations on issues or in areas of direct relevance and interest to charities through keynote speakers and provides opportunities for connections between key individuals from different charities and to exchange ideas and experiences with your peers and professionals.

Due to the present situation we are looking to take this event online.  Further details will be forthcoming.

The Charity Forum is a promising initiative with the potential to increase self-reliance and resilience among charity trustees in the south of England.  I would recommend all trustees in the region consider how their charities may benefit from taking part in the Forum and wish the project every success.

- Sam Younger, Chief Executive, The Charity Commission

“The Paris Smith Charity Forum chimes with at least three priorities we have set ourselves in government.”

- Nick Hurd MP

Congratulations on the success of the Paris Smith Charity Forum Annual Conference in November. It was a pleasure to speak to such a diverse and engaged audience and to announce our fundraising training around Local Charities Day.

The Paris Smith Charity Forum chimes with priorities that I highlighted of a sector that has the public’s confidence. I wish the Forum on going success in encouraging a more independent, self-regulating and sustainable charity and social enterprise sector.

- Rob Wilson MP

Minister for Civil Society
