Celia Lloyd Davidson

Partner - Head of Intellectual Property and Art

My experience

I am an experienced Intellectual Property and Commercial solicitor with extensive experience in my field.  I trained in the Magic Circle and have worked for leading City practices in the UK and internationally. I was subsequently appointed as General Counsel and Head of Governance at a national museum before joining the partnership of Paris Smith in 2024.

This combination of private practice and in-house experience means that I understand the client’s perspective, providing technically rigorous, pragmatic advice in a bespoke and approachable style.

I advise across a wide range of IP and commercial issues, including trade marks, copyright and licensing. I can also support clients’ wider legal needs including contracts, collaborations and commissions. I have particular experience in advising the creative sector and have worked closely with founder-owned businesses and with clients active in the fashion, beauty, hospitality, and not-for-profit sectors.

I have also been recognised for my expertise in the Museums and Art sector, through which I have close links with commercial and non-commercial organisations, artists and collectors. Through this work, I have served as trustee to the Swiss Cultural Fund charity and am currently a member of the strategic board of the Turner Sims Concert Hall at the University of Southampton.

I hold the following memberships:

  • Committee Member (IP) – Competition Law Association (UK organisation of the Ligue Internationale du Droit de la Concurrence)
  • Member – Art Lawyers Association
  • Member – PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market)
