Corporate Deal Highlights: Paris Smith See Surge in Deal Activity 2016
The transactional partners in the corporate team based at our Southampton offices have had a busy start to 2016. Deal highlights include advising the shareholders of healthcare goods company HPC Healthline with their merger with Polyco creating a £130m group, a major Benelux private equity firm on its £17m acquisition of a Southern food manufacturer and Purple Parking’s latest acquisition having advised on their Meteor Meet and Greet and Pink Elephant acquisitions last year. The team has also acted for a client committing to a £22m property joint venture for a Moorgate development and advised the shareholders of veterinary specialists Anderson Moores in their sale of a majority stake to Pets At Home.
I am delighted with the progress that this relatively young group of partners has made in the transactional market place and they are deserving of the greater recognition they are receiving. Our lawyers have also advised on many smaller purchases and sales of businesses which they have seen through to conclusion this year including re-organisations and Management Buy Outs, a good number of which are being achieved with more creative approaches to succession in private companies. I am particularly pleased that many of the instructions have originated from clients’ broader usage of the department’s commercial and intellectual property offerings and from the firm’s broader commercial, employment and commercial dispute resolution departments.
