Supporting the Advancement of Lifesaving 3-D Heart Technology
Huw Miles, Managing Partner at Paris Smith LLP, is preparing to undertake a remarkable charity walk over the weekend of Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April 2026, covering almost 45 miles between the firm’s offices in Winchester, Southampton and Bournemouth. The event aims to raise vital funds for Wessex Heartbeat.
The challenge will see Huw begin at the Winchester office, following the scenic Itchen Way to Southampton on Saturday, accompanied for the final stretch by members of Heartbeat, culminating at Heartbeat House near Southampton General Hospital. On Sunday, he’ll set off again, tackling an arduous 30-mile trek through the New Forest and along the coast to Bournemouth, aiming to complete the journey before evening falls.
Wessex Heartbeat plays a crucial role in supporting cardiac care across the region, working closely with Southampton General Hospital to improve outcomes for patients and families. The charity provides practical support, including accommodation at Heartbeat House for families of patients undergoing treatment, as well as funding pioneering research and technology that directly benefits the local community.
A key focus of this year’s fundraising is the acquisition of advanced 3-D heart technology for Wessex Heartbeat. This cutting-edge equipment enables detailed visualisation of heart structures, assisting surgeons and clinicians in planning complex procedures. The technology promises improved accuracy in diagnosis, shorter recovery times, and better prognosis for patients of all ages, making a profound difference in the lives of those affected by heart conditions.
