The Role
Our Employment Department has an excellent reputation and is ranked Tier 1 in Hampshire by The Legal 500, as well as being highly ranked by Chambers. The role offers a collegiate and friendly working environment, with a varied caseload acting for both employers and employees, and a good balance between contentious and non-contentious work. We have a strong pipeline of high-quality instructions.
There is real opportunity to develop your own legal expertise and client relationships. The successful candidate will also play an integral role in providing highly valued training through the department’s involvement in the Firm’s Training Arm.
The Department is embracing AI technology and benefits from an internal training programme to support the development of junior staff, delivered in collaboration with the Firm’s technology and innovation team.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Supporting the existing team on a broad range of employment work
- Advising clients and assisting with the delivery of pragmatic legal solutions
- Providing a high-quality legal service to the Firm’s clients
- Accepting delegated work from Partners and undertaking work for established clients
- Managing your own caseload while working closely with colleagues in the department
- Keeping up to date with changes in employment law and undertaking relevant technical and management training
- Working from our Winchester and Bournemouth offices from time to time, as required
The Candidate
The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate the following:
- 3–5 years PQE in employment law
- Strong knowledge of relevant legal practices and procedures
- Awareness of firm, client and departmental processes
- A high level of client care
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

You will work closely with Partners and colleagues within the Employment Department, supporting the team on a broad range of high-quality employment matters. The role involves regular collaboration with clients, including both employers and employees, as well as contributing to the department’s involvement with the Firm’s Training Arm.
You will also engage with colleagues across the wider firm, including the technology and innovation team, as part of the department’s commitment to embracing AI and developing junior staff through internal training programmes.
