My experience
I am an associate solicitor dealing with a wide range of disputes. I have particular expertise in dealing with disputes relating to deceased estates and trusts and am a member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). I also regularly advise clients in relation to commercial, construction and property-related disputes.
I am comfortable working for both claimants and defendants to proposed or actual litigation and my aim is to help clients make informed decisions about their cases so that they can achieve the best possible outcome for their particular circumstances. That means considering costs with clients and the possibility of settlement at an early stage and I regularly represent clients in settlement negotiations and mediations. Where necessary however, I am confident taking matters to trial and I am regularly involved in both County Court and High Court litigation.
- I deal with the following contentious trusts and probate matters:
challenges to the validity of wills and claims concerning interpretation or rectification of wills; - caveats, warnings and citations in the Probate Registry and ‘non-standard’ applications for grants of representation;
- claims for reasonable financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975;
- claims in proprietary estoppel;
- claims against executors and administrators by beneficiaries and applications for their removal;
- professional negligence claims against solicitors and other advisors in relation to wills, estate planning and estate administration;
- disputes about trusts, how they are administered and claims against trustees for breach of their duties and/or seeking their removal; and,
I also deal with the following commercial and construction matters:
- professional negligence claims;
- contractual disputes;
- claims for restitution based on undue influence or mistake;
- claims concerning financial abuse of vulnerable adults, misuse of powers of attorney and civil fraud;
- debt recovery;
- bankruptcy and winding-up petitions;
- payment disputes and adjudications under the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 or relevant contract;
- disputes with insurers over decisions to avoid policies;
- consumer disputes based on the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or in relation to unfair contract terms;
- partnership and company disputes; and
- claims against agents for breach of their contractual or fiduciary duties.
I am able to advise and represent clients in the following property-related matters:
- disputes concerning beneficial ownership of property, declarations of trust and implied resulting or constructive trusts;
- trespass and nuisance;
- adverse possession claims and claims concerning land registration in the Property Chamber of the First Tier Tribunal;
- boundary disputes; and
- repossession of commercial and residential properties.
I am very happy to discuss matters with prospective clients and welcome direct enquiries. I am based in our Bournemouth office but I am happy to see clients at any of our locations. Many of my clients are spread throughout the UK and abroad and, through the use of technology, I am able to accept instructions from and meet with clients regardless of location.
